Mumbai is located on seven now-merged islands, namely, Mazagaon, Isle of Bombay, Old Woman's Island, Colaba, Worli, Parel, and Salsette Island. The city lies at the mouth of Ulhas River off coastal region known as the Konkan. The city is in the tropical zone, near the Arabian Sea, and generally has humid and dry seasons. Mumbai comes under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. It comprises of two distinct regions — the city and the suburbs.
